Avanti Pasticceria is Adelaides oldest family owned and run traditional Italian patisseries. Using authentic family recipes passed down the generations with only the finest ingredients and time honoured artisan baking techniques, our bakers skillfully craft delicacies and delights to tempt the taste buds and pleasure the most discerning of palates. Since 1964, Avanti Pasticceria has been baking continental cakes, pastries, taralli and biscotti for the wholesale market. But our history stretches across continents and back to 1920's Italy where the late Maria Luigia Mercurio (1913-2012), the family matriarch, learnt the importance of fresh quality ingredients and the skills to craft traditional cakes and pastries. Upon immigrating to Australia in 1954 with her husband Pelegrino Mercurio (1910-2004) and a young family, Maria Luigia, restricted her time to establishing themselves in this new country and setting up a home for her family. But the love of baking was never far away, as the aroma of freshly baked cakes and biscuits often wafted from her kitchen window. It wasn't long before Maria Luigia began baking cakes and biscuits for friends and family, and then the word was out, Traditional Italian cakes, pastries and biscuits baked fresh right here in Adelaide.
