Description
Polkadot + Moonbeam is a pocket-sized acoustic duo that brings a romantic twist to the unassuming ukulele, adding vocals in sweet harmony and a swinging bass. We share our hearts through our music, always with a touch of nostalgia, and a lot of love.Composed by Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke, the 1940 song Polkadots and Moonbeam first fell upon the ears of Juliet, the now Polkadot, when the couple first met in 2010. At the time, Didi (Moonbeam) was also accompanying a singer in Sydney on the same tune. The quirky combination of the ukulele and bass was first dreamt up by Polkadot and the term four-string swing coined by the witty Moonbeam. It was unusual for the mind to perceive, but if you close your eyes, that sweet familiar sound of D-hole guitars and a swinging double bass wasnt far. It was crystal clear. Against strummy uptempo ukulele trends, the two decided they loved the humble ukulele instrument simple for its mild and mellow tones mostly thumbed, instead. The unabashed walk and dance of the bass that is bold, unapologetic, supports the mids and trebles of the ukulele, and their vocals in sweet harmony seals each tune perfectly in love.
